ALEXEI RAYMAR
I was born in the city of Vorkuta, Russia on 31.03.1977. From an early age I started to sing, and my first experience was in singing patriotic communist songs in my neighborhood. During my schooldays I sang in our class choir and at the age of 14 my best friend introduced me into the world of Heavy Metal. We spent a lot of time together, listening to such bands like AC/DC, Cinderella, Twisted Sister, and at the age of 17 I discovered for myself a band which turned my style of life. Its name was Iron Maiden. When I heard "Fear of The Dark" and "Seventh Son of A Seventh Son" for the first time I found myself as a true metal maniac. I spent hours and hours later, listening to the bands like Helloween, Manowar, Judas Priest, Grave Digger, Rage, and their songs inspired me and helped me a lot in my life. My decision to become a Heavy Metal singer, however, came later, when in 1997 I decided to immigrate to Israel, where I heard for the first time "Glory to The Brave", a song by HammerFall. At that moment I understood that I found my favorite style of music - Power Metal. During the years of studying in Tel-Aviv University I tried to find the band with which my dream to sing power-metal would come true, but the goal was too hard to achieve. After 6 years of searching I found an announcement in the internet of a young power-metal band called Desert looking for a new singer. I came to a rehearsal and the guys were more than satisfied with my vocal capabilities, so since January 2004 I became a part of the Desert.
During the recording of our debut demo "The Way to Honor" I understood that I needed
to take some private lessons of classical singing in order to broaden my vocal horizons
and to study the theory of singing, so since August 2004 I have also been taking
singing lessons and my teacher is an Israeli Opera singer. |
